Adjunct Instructor Roster

Greg Duncan

Mr. Duncan is a retired United States Marine with more than 20 years of honorable military service and over a decade of instructional experience. As an adjunct instructor with Commonwealth Criminal Justice Academy, he is dedicated to sharing his knowledge and helping students develop the confidence and skills needed to succeed in their careers.

Mr. Duncan holds instructor certifications through the National Rifle Association (NRA), the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), and the State of Maryland. Throughout his career, he has trained thousands of Marines, security professionals, and civilians, emphasizing safe, effective, and practical instruction.

Passionate about teaching, Mr. Duncan enjoys working with individuals at every experience level—from those entering the profession to seasoned professionals seeking to enhance their abilities. His commitment to student success ensures every individual leaves the classroom better prepared for future challenges.

Chad Lewis

Mr. Lewis brings more than 18 years of experience in law enforcement, emergency medical services, private security, and protective operations throughout the United States and in high-threat environments overseas. His diverse background provides students with practical, real-world knowledge drawn from a broad range of public safety and security disciplines.

Throughout his career, Mr. Lewis has served in numerous leadership and operational roles, including Training Operations Manager for a national protective services training academy, where he oversaw curriculum development, instructor management, procurement, and training operations for more than 113 full-time and contract instructors. His operational experience includes supporting Department of State, Department of Defense, Department of Energy, and U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) contracts as an operations officer, explosives detection K9 team leader, Emergency Response Team EMT and team leader, and tactical supervisor for a Class I Nuclear Facility.

In law enforcement, Mr. Lewis has served as a Patrol Sergeant, Training Officer, K9 Handler, SWAT Medic, and SWAT Commander. He is a licensed Advanced EMT (EMT-A), a certified TCCC/TECC Instructor, and a Virginia DCJS General Instructor. His instruction combines proven leadership, operational expertise, and a commitment to preparing students for the demands of the profession.

William Beaudry

Mr. Beaudry is a Virginia DCJS-certified instructor and Compliance Agent with more than 31 years of experience in security operations, leadership, compliance, and workforce development. Since beginning his security career in 1995, he has served in positions ranging from Security Officer and Site Supervisor to District Manager and Area Training and Development Manager, overseeing employee development, regulatory compliance, and training initiatives.

Mr. Beaudry is certified to instruct multiple Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) private security courses, including security officer, firearms, and related in-service training. He is also a Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) International Instructor and is certified by both the American Red Cross and Health & Safety Institute (HSI) to teach CPR, First Aid, and AED programs. He led the implementation of a training program for a major data center security operation, training instructors and launching a fully operational training department.

A veteran of both the United States Coast Guard and the New Mexico Army National Guard, Mr. Beaudry brings practical, real-world experience into the classroom and is committed to developing competent, confident public safety professionals through instruction that emphasizes legal compliance, sound judgment, professionalism, and officer safety.

William "Chuck" Tupper

Mr. Tupper is a retired West Virginia State Police Sergeant and United States Army veteran with decades of experience in law enforcement, tactical operations, and firearms instruction. His extensive operational background provides students with practical insight gained through years of leadership in high-risk environments.

During his 20-year career with the West Virginia State Police, Mr. Tupper served as a Detachment Commander and spent 13 years as a Special Response Team (SRT) Entry Team member, including seven years as Team Leader and Assistant Team Leader. His specialized training includes tactical building entry, mechanical breaching, hostage negotiations, tactical aircraft entry, hazardous materials response, chemical munitions handling, and clandestine laboratory operations. He also served with the U.S. Army Counterdrug Special Reaction Team and previously served 9½ years in the United States Army, including the 82nd Airborne Division as a Jumpmaster.

Mr. Tupper is a Virginia DCJS General and Firearms Instructor certified to teach Armed and Unarmed Security Officer programs, handgun, shotgun, patrol rifle, advanced firearms, personal protection specialist, and alarm respondent courses. His instruction emphasizes safety, professionalism, leadership, and the practical application of tactical skills.

John Dickens

Mr. Dickens is a retired United States Army combat veteran with 25 years of honorable military service and extensive experience in public safety, emergency response, and professional instruction. His broad instructional background enables him to deliver comprehensive, hands-on training across multiple disciplines.

Mr. Dickens is a Virginia DCJS General Instructor and DCJS Firearms Instructor, certified to teach Armed and Unarmed Security Officer courses, handgun and shotgun firearms training, and Alarm Respondent programs. In addition, he is a Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Surface Instructor, certified in both Virginia and West Virginia, and serves as a West Virginia Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

Drawing upon decades of military, emergency services, and instructional experience, Mr. Dickens is committed to providing students with practical knowledge, technical proficiency, and the confidence necessary to excel in their careers.

Jay Williams

Mr. Williams is a retired National Football League (NFL) veteran and experienced executive protection professional with more than a decade of experience in personal protection and security operations. Inspired by a family legacy of public service, he has dedicated his career to protecting others while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and discretion.

Mr. Williams currently serves on a Personal Protection Security Team responsible for providing discreet protective services to domestic and international VIPs and dignitaries. His responsibilities include conducting counter-surveillance operations, comprehensive threat assessments, protective advances, tactical support, and operational reporting to ensure the safety of high-profile clients in a variety of environments.

Mr. Williams is a National Rifle Association (NRA) Certified Law Enforcement Instructor and a certified firearms instructor through the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Utah. He has extensive experience training security professionals throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area in firearms safety, defensive tactics, and professional security operations. His instruction emphasizes preparedness, sound judgment, and practical skills that translate directly to real-world protective environments.

Allen "AJ" Unkefer

Mr. Unkefer is a retired Sheriff's Deputy with extensive experience in law enforcement, firearms instruction, and officer safety training. As an adjunct instructor with Commonwealth Criminal Justice Academy, he provides practical, experience-based instruction designed to prepare students for the responsibilities of today's public safety and private security professions.

Mr. Unkefer is certified by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) as both a General Instructor and Firearms Instructor. He is also a National Rifle Association (NRA) Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor for handgun and shotgun platforms.

In addition to firearms instruction, Mr. Unkefer is certified as a Safariland Defensive Tactics Instructor, Monadnock Expandable Baton Instructor, Low-Light and Pistol Mounted Light Instructor, Larry Smith Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) Instructor, and First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor. His broad instructional background enables him to deliver comprehensive, hands-on training that emphasizes officer safety, sound decision-making, and professional competence.

Greg Hibbard

Mr. Hibbard brings decades of combined experience in emergency medical services, fire service, law enforcement, and professional instruction. His diverse background allows him to provide students with practical knowledge rooted in real-world operational experience.

Mr. Hibbard earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania before beginning his career as a nationally certified paramedic and volunteer firefighter in Pennsylvania. He later served as a paramedic in the Commonwealth of Virginia while expanding his instructional credentials in both basic and advanced emergency medical education.

Since joining the Metropolitan Police Department in 2003, Mr. Hibbard has earned instructor certifications in vehicle operations, mountain bike operations, National Rifle Association (NRA) Law Enforcement Handgun and Shotgun instruction, Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) instruction, and CPR, AED, and First Aid. Since 2013, he has served with the Security Officers Management Branch as Firearms Instructor Coordinator, providing oversight and expertise in firearms training and instructor development.

With more than 16 years of law enforcement experience, nearly a decade of Fire/EMS service, and an extensive instructional background, Mr. Hibbard is committed to delivering professional, practical, and engaging training to every student.

Kymlee Perroni

Mrs. Perroni brings extensive leadership experience in law enforcement, executive protection, private security operations, tactical medicine, and professional instruction. Throughout her career, she has held senior operational and instructional positions with nationally recognized organizations while developing and delivering training programs for security and public safety professionals.

Mrs. Perroni has served as a Firearms and Tactics Instructor for ACADEMI and OMNIPLEX, Vice President of Operations for Commonwealth Criminal Justice Academy, Field Operations Manager for AlliedBarton, Branch Operations Manager for U.S. Security Associates, and previously served as a police officer in New Hampshire. Her professional background also includes experience as an Executive Protection/Personal Security Detail (EP/PSD) operator.

She is certified as a Virginia DCJS General and Firearms Instructor and holds numerous instructor certifications, including Larry Smith Pepper Spray, Safariland MEB and MDTS, Active Shooter Response, SWAT Medic, Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC), and Instructor Trainer certifications through ASHI, the American Heart Association (AHA), and the American Red Cross for First Aid, CPR, and AED.

Mrs. Perroni is committed to delivering realistic, performance-based instruction that equips students with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills necessary to succeed in demanding operational environments.

Paul Sweeney

Mr. Sweeney is a retired United States Marine Corps Master Sergeant with more than 20 years of distinguished military service and extensive experience in special operations, reconnaissance, firearms instruction, and tactical program development. His career reflects a longstanding commitment to excellence in leadership, operational readiness, and professional instruction.

After graduating as Company Honor Man from Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego in 1988, Mr. Sweeney was selected for a specialized intelligence program and assigned overseas with the Naval Security Group Activity in Scotland, where he earned recognition as both Marine of the Quarter and Marine of the Year. He later served in classified joint operations before leading assessment and selection for Marine Reconnaissance at Camp Lejeune, ultimately training and leading Marine Special Operations teams in support of national security missions. He retired in 2008 as a Master Sergeant and the Senior Enlisted Marine assigned to the National Reconnaissance Office.

Following his military career, Mr. Sweeney was selected to develop the Expeditionary Combat Shooting Skills Program for the Naval Expeditionary Combat Command, where he created the Expeditionary Small Arms Marksmanship Instructor (ESAMI) program. He has since continued supporting government agencies and national security initiatives by developing, implementing, and delivering specialized firearms and tactical training programs worldwide.

Mr. Sweeney's instruction is founded on decades of operational experience, emphasizing professionalism, accountability, and the practical application of tactical skills in high-risk environments.

Randy Weekley

Kyosh Weekley has dedicated nearly 30 years to the study, instruction, and advancement of martial arts, defensive tactics, and tactical training. His career began while pursuing a degree in criminal justice and evolved into a lifelong commitment to developing practical self-defense and combative skills for military, law enforcement, security professionals, and civilians.

Mr. Weekley trained for 17 years under Sensei Chadwick Minge and Grandmaster Shoto Tanemura of the Genbukan Ninpo/Ninjutsu traditions, ultimately earning the prestigious title of Kyoshi (Master Teacher) from Soke Tanemura in Japan. Since then, he has continued to expand his expertise in Ninjutsu, Jujutsu, Mixed Martial Arts, Krav Maga, Extreme Close Quarters Combat, Combatives, Defensive Tactics, and Tactical Firearms.

His instructional experience spans five continents, where he has trained and taught students throughout Japan, Thailand, China, Australia, Europe, the Caribbean, and across the United States. In addition to operating martial arts schools since 1992, Mr. Weekley founded the Ninpiden International Ninjutsu Martial Arts Association (N.I.N.M.A.A.) in 2006 and continues to serve as its President.

Mr. Weekley's extensive qualifications also include training as a Doctor of Oriental Medicine, certified rescue diver, personal trainer, firearms instructor, and published author. Since 2010, he has specialized in providing firearms, defensive tactics, and mission-specific training to military contractors on the East Coast. His instruction emphasizes discipline, adaptability, and practical application in real-world environments.

Medical Instructor Roster

Sandra Marie Taylor, BSN, RN, NREMT - Lead EMS Education Coordinator

Sandra has been a Registered Nurse in the Spotsylvania, Fredericksburg, Fauquier area for 28 years. She earned her Associates in Applied Science in Nursing Degree from Germanna Community College in 1994. Later in her nursing career pursued her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Old Dominion University. Presently working on her Master’s in Education at American Sentinel University.

Drawing on her multiple experiences as an ICU/critical care nurse, Cardiac Cath lab/Holding/Electrophysiology nurse, Kidney-Smart Educator, ACLS instructor, as well as being a BLS instructor, has taught and coordinated numerous basic and advanced levels of medical courses. Opened and ran multiple peritoneal outpatient dialysis units in Virginia and Maryland, as well as opening and running a 23-hour observation chest pain unit in the Emergency Department at Mary Washington Hospital in the early-2000’s. Sandra currently works full-time as Lead EMS Education Coordinator at Commonwealth Criminal Justice Academy.

Steve Lynd, NREMT-P - EMS Education Coordinator

Steve is a Battalion Chief/Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator for a central Virginia combination career/volunteer Fire & EMS Department. He has worked for the department since 2002. He started his EMS career with Ladysmith Volunteer Rescue Squad in 1996. In 1999 he earned his Paramedic from Virginia Commonwealth University. He heads up the Emergency Management Division, and supervises one of the 24 hour operational shifts. Steve is a certified Flight Paramedic. Steve is the program lead for his department’s Joint Public Safety Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Team. He has been an EMT instructor for 15+ years. Steve holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Science and completed the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s National Emergency Advanced Academy. Steve is a VEMA/VDEM Professional Emergency Manager.

Timothy Kimble, BA, AAS, CEM, NRP - EMS Education Coordinator

Mr. Kimble brings more than 40 years of experience in emergency medical services, fire and rescue, law enforcement, emergency management, security, and forensic investigation. His career in public safety began at the age of 15 with the Warrenton Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company and has evolved into a distinguished career dedicated to education, leadership, and professional development.

Mr. Kimble holds a Bachelor of Arts in General Education with a concentration in Criminal Justice and Emergency Management, an Associate of Applied Science in Emergency Medical Services Technology, and is a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) and National Registry Paramedic (NRP). He maintains active paramedic licensure in Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania and holds Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) licensure as an Armed Security Officer. He is also certified by the Virginia Department of Fire Programs (VDFP) and the Pro Board as Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Fire Officer II, and Hazardous Materials Operations.

An accomplished educator, Mr. Kimble holds instructor certifications through numerous nationally recognized organizations, including NAEMT, the American Heart Association (AHA), the American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI), the National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE), the Virginia Office of EMS, and the Virginia Department of Fire Programs. He has served as faculty for Northern Virginia Community College and Carilion Clinic Life Support Training and has contributed as a subject matter expert to multiple editions of leading public safety textbooks published by AAOS and Jones & Bartlett.

In addition to his instructional roles with Commonwealth Criminal Justice Academy, Mr. Kimble operates Life Support EMS Training Programs in Waynesboro, Virginia. His passion for education, combined with decades of operational experience, enables him to provide students with practical, evidence-based instruction that prepares them for success in today's public safety profession.
